Miami Seaquarium

The Miami Seaquarium is a 38-acre (15-hectare) oceanarium located near downtown Miami on the island of Virginia Key in Biscayne Bay, Miami-Dade County, Florida. It was founded in 1955 and is one of the earliest oceanariums in the United States. In addition to marine species, the Miami Seaquarium houses fish, sharks, sea turtles, birds, reptiles, and manatees. The park offers regular lectures, overnight camps, Boy Scout excursions, and group events. Every year, around 500,000 people attend the facility. The park employs around 225 people and is the third-largest source of revenue for Miami-Dade County through lease payments and taxes.
